Don't give up on me, yet!!

It's difficult to put cool pictures on the blog without a cool camera of which I do NOT have. This cute camera I have doesn't take good pictures at all! Sometimes you can't even see the pictures! But, no more excuses because I am buying a good camera this week as not to become the "don't look at her blog because she never updates it" person!

OR - I could use the excuse....I have not fully recovered yet from the big wreck!

OR - I could use the excuse....I have not fully recovered yet from the big Easter week...and it was big! Johnny and I spent a few days in the Riveria....red neck Riveria..PCB and went home in time to go to Jake and Deanna's first race of the season which was very exciting to see the new car run for the first time. (Can't wait until next weekend for the next one in Dillon, SC which will bring back sweet memories because it was in the Dillon Courthouse where Johnny and I were married and I have not been back to Dillon since 1970!) We got home around 1:30am on Sunday morning, Easter morning! Went to church....great service...then had all the family over for lunch including Eddie and Terrie and Cody and Katie. We had a good lunch and then had the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the front yard. The older the children get the harder it is for the 'hiders' to find all the eggs they hid! It was a fun time.

We were going to return to the Riveria on Sunday afternoon, but our dear friend, Gary Stewart, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday so we had his funeral service on Monday morning. Monday afternoon we headed back to PCB and stayed until Friday. Again, another friend in heaven! This time our sweet friend, Jane Audia. Her funeral service was today, Saturday.

She had a very sweet service to say, "Goodnight, Jane. We'll see you in the morning!"

Tonight Hopie is spending the night with me and will go to church with me in the morning. We have had a lot of fun tonight. She is such a delightful child.

Expert Driving Skills Come in Handy!

Friday, March 14th: Yes, I know, women drivers have a bad reputation for not being able to drive, but honestly, this was NOT my fault! I was driving along, minding my own business, in my lane, not talking on the phone and driving below the speed limit when out of NO WHERE a car slammed into the side of me! I was not badly hurt, except for my feelings! The crazy person didn't even stop! He went across the median and took off in the opposite direction! I very impatiently waited for the police to arrive to fill out the police report but I could not even give him a description of the car or the tag number because it was soooo dark and there were no other cars around at the time to give light from their headlights. However, later I came to the conclusion that he was driving crazy enough to hit me and didn't stop because he was being chased by two police cars that came racing by me right after I pulled off the road. I first thought that they must have either seen what happened or was called by someone who saw it and they were just that close by, but they didn't even slow down when they got to me so they were not coming to my accident after all! I really believe they were chasing that person who hit me! Well, enough of the sob story! At least I will get some massages out of the whole ordeal! I am very sore! It may not look like much from the picture, but it was a very hard it. I am just glad that my expert driving skills helped me to maneuver the car back into control so that the car was not damaged any worse!

Saturday, March 15th :

Our dear friend, Greg Moss, had a birthday this week so we took him to dinner at Aspen's on Saturday night since the Winter Jam concert was cancelled, to our dismay! We were determined to have a great Saturday night with the concert or without it so we had one with Greg and Stephanie. They are great friends and we thank God for their friendship. Happy Birthday, Greg!

What a Fun Week!

Tuesday, March 11 am: Did you see Good Morning America on Monday morning? If so, you got to catch our sweet friend, Anita Renfroe on there with Diane Sawyer! Anita is now a regular contributor for that show! Anita is just the best....so funny and so sweet and so much fun to be with. Deanna and I had lunch with Anita and her cool, fun Mother, Kay, at the Tea Room then went for a bit of therapy...shopping in downtown Woodstock. We had a blast together. We better see Anita while we can because she is getting big....as in famous! Go for it...but please don't forget us..the common folks in Woodcock!! (see the article below about our visit to Washington, DC to understand Woodcock!)

Tuesday, March 11 pm: Schedules!! We all live by a calendar with very busy schedules but we do get to see our families quite a bit. However, getting all three families together at the same time for a family outing is not always easy. So, Hollie devised a plan where we each family gets to choose where we will go and what we will do one night each month. Hollie was first and she chose for us to go to Kani House and then bowling. It was a surprise that she chose bowling because she has to be the worse bowler there has ever been! She was really really bad! Even Addie had a higher score than Hollie! But, if she had been good, the evening would not have been nearly as much fun! We enjoyed laughing at her and making fun of her! She is a barrel of laughs anyway and was not offended by our comments of her total inability to knock down more than one pin at a time! I can't remember what her total score was, but it was in the range of 25!! It was a great family night. Deanna is next to chose the when, where and what and I can't wait to see what is next in store for the Hunt, Carswell, Hixson night out...stay tuned!

Sunday, March 9: Everyone kept saying, "I guess you are going to the race at AMS this week?" My answer had been, "No, the weather is always so unpredictable so I am waiting for someone to offer me some suite passes so I can be inside where the weather doesn't matter!" Of course, I was only kidding because how many people do we know who have suite tickets and will actually offer them to us?? Not many....I can't think of even one....BUT, someone in another state did call on Friday before the race on Sunday and offer us some suite tickets they were not going to be able to use! Do you think I would pass them up! Right!! So, they overnighted them, but to my dismay they arrived via the US Mail and someone had to be home to sign for them, which we were not, so they ended up back at the post office with a note left that said we could pick up the envelope after 9am on Monday morning....after the race!!! You think I was happy? Do you think I was extremely frustrated? But God is good...all the time! After many calls and many prayers, just by me I am sure, we managed to get to the right person...a very nice person....who spoke with another very nice person....who delivered the envelope to my home on Sunday morning! God is good... He must also like racing! Deanna and Jake already had tickets and had some friends going with them so after church on Sunday morning, we all headed for Hampton. Hollie was able to go with me and we had a great day at the races.

Saturday, March 8: Hollie and Pete went away for the night for a 'special surprise getaway' and I kept Hope for them and Addie stayed with her special aunt, Deanna. Johnny was away doing a men's conference so Hope and I had some special time together starting with going to the Alliance Theater to see Seussical the Musical. I tried to explain what a 'play' was, but must not have gotten the message through to her because she kept referring to the "sing-a-long" we were going to. We both really enjoyed the play. It was only an hour and 10 minutes long which was great for children of that age. We arrived about an hour before needing to be seated in the theater so we had a delightful lunch at a special restaurant in the Woodruff Arts Center.

Missing Dr. Falwell

This past Tuesday we flew to Lynchburg, Va. (on a King Air owned by Liberty University) for Johnny to attend the Liberty University Board of Trustees Meeting. For the first time, the wives of the trustees were invited to attend a brunch given by Becki Falwell, the wife of Jerry, Jr.. We had a delightful brunch and tour of the new Montview Mansion (formerly the Carter Glass Mansion). This is where Dr. Falwell's office was which is now roped off and left just as it was when he died. The house has been remodeled and will open soon for guests of Liberty University. Just outside the Montview Mansion is the eternal flame and burial spot of Dr. Falwell. It was my privilege to sit with Mrs. Falwell at the brunch and hear her entertaining stories of the past. She certainly truly misses Dr. Falwell and has experienced many 'firsts' this year....Dr. Falwell died on May 15 of 2007. She seems to be doing well and has a very close relationship with her sister who lives close by and takes great care of her. I know she is proud of her two sons, Jonathan and Jerry, Jr. who have picked up and carried on the legacy of a great father. We all miss him.

The trip home.....due to the stormy weather and the size of the plane we were traveling on (small) we decided to rent a car and drive home! The plane did make it safely into Atlanta, thank the Lord, and so did we....a few hours after the plane...but we made it without the fearfactor of the storms!

P.S. Of course, we were fortunate to have a delightful dinner with my niece, Lindsey and some other Liberty students from FBCW.

Hello, Mr. President!

We had the awesome privilege of meeting President and Mrs. Bush in Washington on Monday evening. Governor and Mrs. Perdue invited us to be their guests at the Republican Governor's Gala making us two of the few official greeters as the President and First Lady arrived at the event. As you might expect, they were very warm and personable and interested in who we were.....as we were in the line with a couple of Governor's and their wives. Johnny explained that he was the Pastor of Sonny Perdue and he said, "Sonny needs a Pastor and I need a Pastor!" We had our picture made with the two of them and then with Governor, Mary and the President and wife. Of course these were taken by the White House photogaphers so I do not yet have the pictures, but be assured you will see them as soon as they arrive! Another treat that night was to meet Arnold....from California!! He was unbelievably short! The Terminator was short!!! That is, short compared to the height I had expected him to be....not even 6 feet tall! Johnny could look him in the eyes....of course, I couldn't because I was star-struck!!! I couldn't even think straight enough to grab the camera and take a picture. The Governor kept saying, "Do you want a picture with him?....By the time I could say, "yes", he was off and away!!! The words just wouldn't come out!

After all the introductions, it was time for the program and guess who gave the invocation???? Yes, my famous husband, Dr. Johnny Hunt....prayed before President Bush delivered his speech! However, that night he was, Dr. Johnny Hunt, from Woodcock. Georgia! Woodcock....Woodstock ... call it what you will, just bring on the famous people!

Governor and Ms. Mary left after the event with 5 other Governors and wives to go to the White House to spend the night there after having dinner with Pres. and Mrs. Bush in their private quarters.

On Tuesday morning, Governor Perdue arranged a guided tour of the White House for me and Johnny. We were only able to visit the East Wing but it was wonderful to see and hear about all the history of that famous house.

It may be a long time before we desire to visit Washington again and especially the White House, so this was definitely a blessing from God and we give Him thanks for making it happen.

Carson Carswell #98!!

Carson Carswell....#98 Quarter Midget Racer! Isn't that just the cutest little racecar driver you have ever seen? He had 3 practice races this weekend and did great! He had two second place finishes and one WIN!! Yeah...Go Carson! We're ready to race!

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines....Finally!!!

At last it is race season! The Daytona 500 had a great ending as I had expected. I was very happy with Ryan Newman winning the race. He is a good guy. A little trivia...Eddie Carswell sang at his wedding a couple of years ago. I spoke with Ryan at the Atlanta race in October and he spoke of what a great guy Eddie is. Of course, I was so star struck even standing beside Ryan Newman that I really couldn't hardly concentrate on what he was saying!

Anyway, it was fun to watch the race today while snuggled up on the sofa after months of waiting to hear those famous words to start the beginning of the Race season.....racing to church just as the race is about to finish hoping to hear the finish before 6:00 when the service starts....sitting out in the car until you just HAVE to go in before the lights come back on after the baptismal part of the service as not to be such a obstacle walking to my seat in front of all those people! Then, possibly having to get a text message from Deanna telling me who won the race if it ended after 6:05! Another part of race season...seeing just how many of the PASS (ProAllStarSeries) races I can make it to without my sweet preacher husband totally disowning me! Those are the races that Jake and Deanna's car runs in. And then there is our own little racecar driver, Carson. He drives a quarter-midget, so some Saturdays when we are not away at the PASS races we get to go to Cumming and literally spend the day with him and the other great little NASCAR drivers of the future.

I guess you know by now that I am not at home in Woodstock to be able to watch the entire Daytona race. I am at the beach and it has been a great time. The winter weather has been great for a 'race retreat'! Yesterday was very very warm beach weather and today was very very good watch the race on TV weather. Thank you husband for letting me take this little retreat!

Valentine's Week.....not just a day!

My husband sure knows how to honor his wife as his sweetheart! He began by taking me to Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville for a couple of nights for spa treatments, romantic yummy dinners, cozy breakfasts by the fire in our snuggly little cottage while whispering sweet everythings in my ear!!! He was so wonderful making everything perfect for the two of us.

Then...on Wednesday he fixed me a wonderful breakfast in bed complete with fried eggs, grits, bacon, toast, muffins, orange juice, diet coke all made to order! The remarkable thing is that it was sooo tasty and he didn't even make a huge mess! (We were having company for the remainder of the week for Real Evangelism so he was thinking ahead and treated me early)

Then....that night, he waited up until a little after midnight and presented me with some great gifts!!!! Diamonds, of course! There again, he was thinking ahead because he knew he was going to be very busy with church activities and since he is the husband that he is, he didn't want me to go a minute Valentine's Day thinking he was not going to have a gift for me. Of course, everything he had already done would have been more than plenty, but that is how he is....The Most Wonderful Man in the World Who Really Knows How to Show His Love to Me! I THINK I WILL KEEP HIM!

He was right! After that, it was an extremely busy week with a dental appointment that made me extremely loopy (that is another story that I hope you don't hear about and if you do, don't believe it!) guests in our home, Real Evangelism, lunch with dear friends who have been fired from their church, school activities with the grandchildren......whew!! What a Week! I Need a Break.....I'm going to the Beach!

Mike Huckabee's visit to FBCW

Wow! What a day at First Baptist Woodstock! It all began with the scheduled visit from the BBC from England to do a story on our church which will eventually air on the History Channel.

Then, the midweek scheduling of Presidential Candidate, Mike Huckabee, to worship at FBCW at both services. He gave a testimony that was very Christ honoring without doing a 'political speech'. His testimony would definitely be worth viewing on the FBCW website when it is available. Mr. Huckabee's testimony was followed by a GREAT message by our beloved Pastor! Without having to say, with all the media attention toward FBCW this week, we were full in both services.

Don't forget, Tuesday is the Primary Election!

2008 Men's Conference at FBCW

I have never seen so many men in one room in all my life! Well over 8,000 (eight thousand)!!!! It was a great sight. I even thought I saw a woman or two, but it was a false alarm! I hear the men had a wonderful conference and I believe it because they had the best teacher to men in all the world. My husband is a great man and knows how to motivate men to seek the Lord in every aspect of their lives and put Him first , especially in their marriage. After 37 years of marriage, he now has it all downpat and is the best husband, father, grandfather and pastor that anyone could ever ask for! Just ask me, I know! I love Johnny Hunt and always will! I could not be more proud of him.

Happy Birthday, Susan!

On Thursday night we were happy to be able to have dinner with our sweet friends, Susan and Allen Power. We did not know it was her birthday and it was very special to celebrate with the two of them. Our friend from Argentina, Alex Belmar, also with with us. It is wonderful to have good friends you enjoy being with. Happy Birthday, Susan.

Princess Addie's 4th Birthday!

The Royal Family, Princess Addie at her 4th birthday party, and I told you it would be worth the wait to see Prince Peter, the story-teller, secure MAN and a GREAT father to two adorable children who think their dad is the BEST! I would agree after the costume!

Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews!

My brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Julie, were able to come with their adorable children, Blaise, Dalton and Maranda and spend a little time with us this weekend. We were so happy to see them, even though it was for a short visit. Today, Greg and Julie went to lunch with Lindsey (their oldest daughter) and Taylor Dorner, who she is engaged to and Taylor's parents, Dan and Lisa. Johnny and I took their kids to McDonald's for lunch and met up with Deanna, Katie and Carson. They had so much fun playing together. Notice the drool on Maranda's shirt....I believe that is why she is at the moment upstairs crying her little eyes out....teething, again! But she is such a very sweet child! We had a great time.

Tonight we went to Hollie and Pete's house for Addie's fourth birthday party! She actually was able to have it on the first planned date! That is pretty unusual for her. Usually, something happens to cause us to have to postpone it! It was a great party. I'll post pictures when I can. In the meanwhile, it will be worth the wait just to see pictures of how Pete was dressed! He is such a good Daddy! You'll see why!

Aunt Aunt, Uncle Uncle

This is a little odd, but my Mother's sister married my Daddy's brother so here is my Aunt Aunt Clara Mae and Uncle Uncle M.H. They were able to go on the Bible Cruise with us and it was good to see them and spend a little time catching-up on the family!

Okay, Okay, Here is a little update since the New Year!

The annual January Bible Cruise! Addie and Hollie were able to go with us. The weather was great and we actually had a very nice time.





















Hopie slammed her finger in the door with some help from Addie and she had to go to the emergency room to have it xrayed. The very end of it was fractured but she is such a trooper in medical situations and did very well throughout the long wait and ordeal! I think she just wanted the attention from all the clergy! Have you ever had this many preachers visit you at one time?? If you did, you probably are not reading this now! You know what I mean, Vern?

One of Johnny's best friends, Donald Pope, came and spent a few days with us. It has been one year now since his precious Debbie died. We still all really miss her.




When we were on our way home from Gatlinburg, we stopped for lunch and were so happy to run into our wonderful friends, Russ and Mary Lee and their adorable children. It was especially good to see Mary, as she has been going through cancer treatments and we have been praying earnestly for her. She seems to be doing well.





Happy New Year celebration in Gatlinburg....Katie and Carson and our special friends, Greg and Stephanie Moss. (Greg and Steph finally got to go to Gatlinburg and share a room together!)
